Even when the news is free, journalism is not. Support Arete News.
International cooperation, multilateralism, and global freedom all need a free, independent press – especially when authoritarianism is on the rise.
Our focus on international organizations reflects a belief that the future of our planet depends on cooperation, which, in turn, depends on having an informed public that can agree on a set of common facts to find solutions.
We work to deliver those facts through unbiased, nonpartisan coverage of the world of international organizations, multilateral treaties, and policies.
"We are living in an incredibly dangerous world," says Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, author and historian Anne Applebaum. "A network of autocracies is now working actively to undermine the democratic world."
And as U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres said of the (solvable) climate and nature crises: "Humanity has a choice: cooperate or perish."
